Whole Body Vibration and Weight Loss

Check the latest white paper research on weight loss using whole body vibration

The platform movement of our Hypervibe machines cause repetitive bending and straightening of your joints. As the muscles attached to them quickly stretch it results in strong reflex muscle contractions. This contraction and relaxation of the muscles burn energy.

Calories Burned with Whole Body Vibration

Our vibration machines cause contraction and relaxation of the muscles to occur multiple times per second in order to keep the body stable. In the same way that regular exercise will build muscle mass so will the automatic contraction and relaxation of the muscles while standing on the plate. This contraction and relaxation of the muscles alone burns energy. Muscles burn more energy than fat, therefore, having a lower body fat percentage and higher muscle mass will increase the calories burned even at rest!

A study published in the journal Endocrinology found that just 20 minutes a day on a vibrating platform over the course of three months reduced fat in the abdomen and liver and increased levels of osteocalcin, a protein that strengthens bones.  This makes whole body vibration training a great method of weight loss for beginners new to exercise!

Lymphatic Drainage and Whole Body Vibration

As we have talked about in our previous blog post “Lymphatic Drainage and Weight Loss”, toxicity in the body plays a large role in losing or keeping excess weight off as well as increases cellulite and fat deposits. The lymph system requires muscle contractions in order to move the toxic substances and waste out of the body. The rapid muscle contractions created by whole body vibration will move the lymph along and create the muscle movement that your lymphatic system needs to open up, drain, and close down the lymph drainage process.

There are a variety of exercises and poses we can do to specifically target lymph drainage so if you refrain from exercises due to injury there are many poses and movements we are able to do on the vibration plate that will not put extra strain on existing injuries while still getting the benefits of whole-body vibration!
